Da, Da

27 September 2012

B seriously woke up on Darren's birthday last Friday morning and said, "Da, Da." It was the sweetest moment.  Now he is obsessed with it.  I'm just a wee bit jealous, but since his first word was Mom, I'm over it. :)

You can see he is a busy boy and took every single game and dvd off the shelf.

How Do We Do It?

23 September 2012

I scrolled through past blog posts and thought, "Man, am I glad I blogged about B doing that for the first time." I updated Bradyn's baby book yesterday and I sorted through his clothes, weeding through the ones that no longer fit.  This morning I washed his bottles and labeled them with the new Inchbug name and date labels I purchased online so I wouldn't have to write his name and date on each bottle every day before taking them to the CDC.  I then picked up toys off the floor, which were trailed all over the living room, and I washed even more dishes left behind by Darren who was up watching UFC all night. In between doing all that, I some how managed to get papers corrected and into my gradebook, prepared homework packets, and emailed myself some reminders for the week.
I have a home list and a work list, and although my lists are never complete, at least I made a small dent in them this weekend. How do us moms do it? The only answer I could come up with was, I don't know, we just do. We care so much for our family that we put them first before ourselves and still find time to do the 100 million other things on our list. Whatever doesn't get done today will just have to wait until tomorrow. And even if I mark 0 things off those lists, that's ok because life's too short to worry about what there is TO DO! Sometimes it's important to JUST BE.

By the way, I highly recommend seeing the movie, "I Don't Know How She Does It", which was my inspiration for this blog post today. I love SJP and although I read the book by the Welsh author, Allison Pearson first, I think this movie was far better and a gentle reminder of how us moms may have two lives, but neither one of them are worth living unless we have time to enjoy them.

I'm looking at Bradyn sprawled out on the floor, who is currently snoozing and as comfy as can be. Stealing just 5 minutes for myself to post to my blog/public journal. So very therapeutic. Ahh, I feel better already. (Must remember to back this thing up! lol!)

Paralympics 2012

26 August 2012

B and I saw some pretty amazing people on our walk this morning.  Members of the USA Paralympic Team were practicing on the Lakenheath High School track this morning. So humbling.

And my little Olympian crawled today!! Pretty cool.
Can you see his teeth?

The Last Two Weeks

25 August 2012

The last two weeks have been filled with change and progress.

I started back to work full time and worked diligently in my classroom whlie B started daycare for the first time.  He now has a high pitched scream and runny nose to show for it, but he has also made some new friends, one of which is my co-worker's son, Tyler.  Right now I'm watching him "worm around" and get on to his knees, making his way to the Xbox where he likes to push the green button and get the dvd out. Time for some gates and other child safetly devices. Yeah, we have been slacking on that one big time.

Bradyn's so proud of how well he can sit up and play with his toys!

He also has two teeth! I tried to get him to show me, but that wasn't happening!

First time sitting in the high chair at Pinkerton's.
We had a baked sweet potato, yum!

I'm sad that we won't get to spend our days together, but we make the most of our nights and weekends. Time to spend some QT with the little foot muncher now!

London 2012

13 August 2012

So these are the Olympic pics that didn't make Facebook because there were so many just at Beach Volleyball. Actually there were a lot of just me and I didn't want to be one of THOSE people. But hey, when you have a blog that's all about you, well then it's appropriate. Enjoy!

I was on the hunt for a rubbery teether for B and walked away with these bath letters instead. You know the foamy kind with different textures, perfect for babies to play with in the bath. Turns out they double as a teether and the perfect distraction while I'm doing anything else but playing with him. I decided to take some shots of B with his name spelled out, but as you can see he had a different idea in mind.
Maybe he wants to be called Brady?
I know that would make his dad happy.

By the way, as of August 3, Bradyn officially has his first tooth!!
