Land of the Midnight Sun

Here are a few pictures of us at the Midnight Sun Festival in downtown Fairbanks. Both were taken on the bridge downtown with the Chena River below. We took these pictures around 11pm. We stayed up by walking around to look at the different vendors and night life, then hit Big Daddy's BBQ before calling it a night around 1am. Lindsey had to fly out at 9am and made it home safely with one delay in the cities. What a memorable trip!

Fun all night with nothing but light!

Lindsey flew in last Saturday and we have had a lot of fun while she's been here. There was a lot of rain this week, but we were able to do all the touristy stuff around the North Pole area. We took a cruise on the Tanana Chief Sternwheeler that goes down the Chena River in Fairbanks on Tuesday night. They served us prime rib and salmon and it was about an hour and a half trip. I took her on base yesterday. I couldn't let her leave without seeing at least one moose, she was lucky enough to see three! A momma and her two babies, which is rare. We are going downtown tonight for the summer solstice and Midnight Sun Festival to see the midnight sun. Darren and I haven't had a chance to experience the festival yet. It was over 80 degrees today, so we're hoping the weather stays nice so we can share some pictures with everyone. Lindsey keeps saying how much she likes it up here, but I told her this IS the best time to come, she might not be saying that come November. I am sad that she has to leave tomorrow already. I hope we get more visitors soon--hint, hint!

Another New Baby for Auntie Aimes

I'm an auntie again! My sister, Tina and her husband, Matt welcomed Cordell Charles Hoeft to the family- a little earlier than expected- on the morning of Tuesday, May 27, 2008. Big sisters Aubrey and Ashlyn are so excited to have a baby brother to help take care of. He is such a cutie! I think he resembles Aubrey, left. Thanks for sending me the picture, mom!

The New Baby

Darren's small business of buying and selling from the Eielson For Sale Board has been going pretty well. He bought an H2 about a month ago down in Anchorage. This week he had a navigational system put in with screens in the back of the head rests. Now he's just finished putting his 24" rims on it...man, I feel like I'm on my own episode of MTV Cribs with our new "whip". (If you've seen the show, you will know what I am talking about.) So, now that Darren has his "baby" he says, and I am quoting him, "you can have your baby". Funny, it's not OUR baby. He's making progress at least! He acted like he was allergic to babies before. ;)

Here are some new pictures taken today of his "baby". He is very proud! Does anyone know how to dye leather?
